   Kharkov investigation department  was established on August 25, 1902. It was renamed as Security Department  on February 13, 1903. In March  1907 the department became a part of South-Eastern District Security Department. South-Eastern Security Department was in charge of Kharkov, Kursk, Voronezh, Tambov and Ekaterinoslav provinces (guberniya) and  territory of Don Cossacks.
   March 1, 1914  South-Eastern District Security Department was abolished and Kharkov  Security Department was established. It became a part of Kharkov provincial gendarme administration. Security Department went into liquidation in 1917.
