Kiev investigation department was established on September 16, 1902. It was renamed as Security Department on February 13, 1903. Since 1907 it existed in parallel to South-Western District Security Department. In March ,1914 this department became a part of Kiev provincial gendarme administration. It went into liquidation March 10, 1917.
